Issues and Opportunities Addressed by MotorcyclePowersportBC:

The Future of Motorcycle Licensing

The BC government is starting a review of the Graduated Licensing Program for motorcycles - GLP-M. It’s a complex landscape for riding instructors, students, trainers, and provincial regulators. The MPBC dealer and industry voice is a key stakeholder in the discussion. Dealers are often the starting point for most new riders’ information and are daily factory ambassadors for safety technology.

ICBC and RoadSafetyBC

The dealer network of MPBC is an essential resource for provincial ministries. Dealers are on the front line in communicating messages to the public. Plus, MPBC’s national and global OEM network helping to bring new technology and best practices from other jurisdictions.

Off-Road Vehicle Management and Economic Development

Dealers feel the results of off-road issues every day. MPBC collects their expertise as a voice at the policy table on behalf of both provincial, national and OEM stakeholders. Ministries such as Recreation Sites and Trails BC are always evolving and requires industry to communicate, consult, and coordinate their activities. Powersport tourism is the new opportunity for everyone.

Vehicle Sales Authority

The Vehicle Sales Authority is an integral business requirement for dealers in BC. The VSA is the regulatory voice for consumers and the sale of personal use on-road motor vehicles. MPBC is the dealer voice on the VSA industry working committee around sales training and compliance for dealers. MPBC can be a critical third-party voice in dispute resolution.

Careers in the industry

The motorcycle and powersport industry is a strong part of the provincial economy. Generating more than 300 million dollars annually it creates over 2,000 full time jobs. The new MPBC Scholarship award for the SkillsCanadaBC competition works with BCIT, and the ITA (Industry Training Authority) in recognizing top students pursuing careers in the motorcycle and powersport industry.

The Consumer Gateway to EV Mobility

The increasing number of EV motorcycle models arrive first at the dealers. They are highly trained for factory servicing and sales information. MPBC is a vital educational link in the accelerating development for consumer products coming to the dealer, both with electric and conventional power.
